Charlie Review, Charlie malayalam movie review rating, Charlie rating, dulquer in Charlie, Charlie hit or flop

Charlie, the most awaited Malayalam film of this year had released today all over. The flick directed by Martin Prakat after the success of ABCD and written by Unni R after the critically acclaimed film Munnariyippu had generated great hype. The presence of Dulquer Salmaan and Parvathy in the lead roles was the main reason for all the anticipation as the two had given a blockbuster acting as a pair in Anjali Menon’s Bangalore Days. The flick Charlie with its title generated lot of fake stories in social media regarding its storyline and also generated so much anticipation as the look and costumes of Dulquer Salmaan in this were trended among youngsters.

The central character of the film is played by Dulquer Salmaan named Charlie and as the other characters says about him in the film, Charlie is a man like wind and it’s impossible to catch wind and same as the case with Charlie. The story of the film starts with the character Tessa played by Parvathy. She elope from her house in order to escape from a marriage decided by her family. With the help of friends she comes to stay in a lodge room. She got many strange things from that room used by the person who stayed in that room earlier. Many people comes to that room enquiring about him as well. She gets some photos of him as well and an incomplete story as well. She went in search of that person which is Charlie played by Dulquer.

Martin Prakat and Unni R jointly written the script of this film. We have to say that it is an experimental kind of film and the narration of the film was really went through a different way. Its not like Martin’s previous films or like Unni’s previous flick. In that sense both of them succeeded in presenting a new experience to the audience from them. Its entertaining as well as really fresh in its treatment. The DOP by Jomon John was really fabulous and has to say that the visuals provided by him was the real highlight of this film. Gopi Sundar’s music was also gelled very well with the subject of the film even though it did not went to another level as it happened with his music in Ennu Ninte Moideen. Sameera Saneesh’s costume design was superb and really fresh which altogether provided a new appearance to all the characters in the film.

On Performance side every actors did their part well but as expected Dulquer Salmaan and Parvathy Menon stole the show with their fabulous chemistry. Other artists like Soubin Shaheer, Nedumudi Venu, Neeraj Madhav, Tovino Thomas, Aparna Gopinath etc had done decent job as well. On the whole Charlie is a simple love story with a fresh narrative style. Watch it without much expectations and you will like it.
