Malayalam Cinema losing too many artists/technicians in 2016

The year 2016 had only started and its only be the second month of the year. But Malayalam Cinema had lost 12 members from their community that include artists, technicians and other prominent figures. The first one who lost his life was actor Sudhakaran who had acted in films like Samoohyapadam, Ain, Sadayam etc. It was on January 4 this year he had passed away. He was 72 years old. Then on January 8, producer MO Joseph had passed away who was 87 years old. He had produced films like Vazhve Mayam, Ponni, Ara Nazhika Neram etc.

On January 11, popular director and screen writer VR Gopala Krishnan had died and he was 60 years old. He had written films like Vandanam, Cheppu etc and directed films like Kakkathollayiram. Then on January 25, the shocking news had come which said that popular Mollywood actress Kalpana had died at the age of 50. She had acted in many and many Malayalam films and it was really a shocking news indeed. Her last Malayalam film was Charlie which released in last year December.

January 30 had witnessed death of two people. One is the popular media person, Television anchor, writer, actor and producer TN Gopakumar and the other is popular actor Kollam GK Pillai. Gopa Kumar was 58 years old and Kollam G K Pillai was 85 years old. February also disappointed Mollywood with 6 deaths. The first one who lost his life in February was Mani Shornur, popular screenplay and story writer. He was died at the age of 71. It was on February 3. On February 6, we heard the news of the death of Late Music director Johnson’s daughter Shan Johnson who is only 29 years of age. She is also a singer and musician like her father.

On February 13, Kerala suffered one of its greatest loss ever as legendary poet, lyricist ONV Kuruppu had passed away at the age of 84. The very next Mollywood ha lost another brilliant member. It was Cinematographer Ananda Kuttan who passed on February 14th. He was 62 years old. The sad fate continued on to next day as well as popular music director Rajamani also passed away at the age of 60 on February 15.

And the latest addition to the list was Rajesh Pillai, the popular Mollywood director who had passed away on February 27 a day after his last film Vettah had hit the screens and became a success.
